DOGS FOR THE DISABLED

October 2007 News from Wendy

I am currently puppy socializing my 23rd puppy, but it is my first experience of a Flat Coat Retriever. His name is Inzie and is black with laughing brown eyes and crimped ears with liver highlights.
He is an absolute joy to have around and I adore the breed. I now have another one to socialise for Dogs for the Disabled.
He is so optimistic and happy with a tail that never stops wagging.
Inzie is full of fun and loves water, the dirtier the better. He loves to show his affection for people especially when wet and my daughter is leaving for work!
He is so enthusiastic about day to day activities and loves to ‘help’ whenever possible. He picks up dropped items, opens doors, pulls off gloves and socks, empties the washing machine, gives a paw and it all come so naturally to him. Of course I am happy to encourage all these traits as a potential dog for the disabled.
Of course his exuberance also means he can readily empty a fridge and a rubbish bin if given half an opportunity.
He loves visiting supermarkets, railway stations and schools with me and he is a brilliant public speaker. His stunning looks always receive lots of positive attention from both adults and children that we meet.
His willingness and eagerness to please makes socialising him fun for me as well and I shall be sorry to let him go when he leaves me to continue his training at 14 months old. I know he will continue to bring happiness to everyone who is fortunate to meet him in the future.
