ABOUT SH CH HERE COMES THE RAIN
One of only two bitches in the litter Brea’s quality stood out. Unlike her sister she didn’t go through the ugly duckling stage but grew beautifully balanced .She had wonderful bone the tightest of feet and a lovely level topline, she also had the thickest blue/black coat. Like her mother “Tori” she also had the most fantastic smile, she had to stay! Her show career got off to a flying start by winning Best Puppy in Breed under Glenis Gwillam (Varingo) at N.E.F.R.A aged 7 months exactly. Her next show less than a month later was LKA under Val Jones (Braemist) .Here she won a very respectable 3rd (with her sister going 4th) out of a class of 34 entries therefore qualifying her for Crufts 1999. Her most amazing achievement for me was to be under Chris Murray (Gayplume) at the LKA the following year. Aged only 18 months Brea won a strong Post Graduate class(21) and went on to win the Bitch CC. I was thrilled, amazed surprised ...you name it. But to make it even more special my mentor and the person responsible for my life in the Dog show world, Glenis Peach of Kilbourne Deerhound fame had un- usually come to watch. Even later when making her into Champion the feeling never even came close to receiving that first ticket. At Three Counties in June 01 under Brian Izzard (Bryshot) she won the reserve CC, he went on later to give Brea her 4thCC. In 2002 she had her first litter to Roz Bellamys (then Townsend) Champion Steeplehouse Chipper. Like her sister the previous year Brea had only two puppies. The two bitches became Rainesgift Summer Thyme JW and the export to Holland Jun Lux Champion & Netherlands Champion Rainesgift Mid Summers Dream the latter being very successfully campaigned in Holland and also gaining her stud book number in England Back in the show ring her next CC didn’t come until nearly three years after the fabulous first when she won the CC under Dr. R .W. James at Driffield in October 2002.. The third followed three months later at Manchester in January 2003 under the late Audrey Nicholls (Darelyn) 2003 proved to be a good year she won the Reserve CC under Roger Millbank (Larksdown) at WELKS in the April followed by the CC and Best of Breed at East of England under Brian Izzard. A month later at URC she won the CC under Jenny Morgan (who had previously given her sister the Reserve CC) Her final CC funnily enough came from the person who started her show career. Glenis Gwillam gave her the CC at Midland Counties The next year saw her out of the show ring whilst trying to get her unsuccessfully in whelp. Eventually after a change in stud dog she whelped a litter in March 2005 proving my own boy Rainesgift Seymour. Going in to the show ring were Rainesgift The Apocalypse who all though qualifying and being shown at Crufts his career was brief due to his owner Mike Bloxsome working the Dog Show circuit and un able to spare the time to do both. He has however gone to “model” appearing on posters for Eukanuba at Crufts ,Championship dog shows and the Game fairs. He has promised he will be back in the show ring so watch this space. Rainesgift The Lyricist, again won well as a puppy qualifying for Crufts and N.E.F.R.A Pup Of The Year. Under Pam Lynott (Avening ) he won Best Puppy In Show at the Southern Flat Coat Society Show in 2005 aged just 6 months old. He now lives as a pet with the Harry Family in Yorkshire Rainesgift The Dawn Chorus and Rainesgift The Dawn of Tyme for Stranfaer JW have both proved themselves in the show ring and continue to do so as their website pages show. In late 2005 Brea holidayed with friend Rona Duncan and Flat coats Darcy and Skye. Rona had had her first Flat coat off me from my first litter. She had just lost “Bridie” and as Brea reminded Rona so much of her it proved difficult to get her back! So after many unsuccessful attempts to go and fetch her Brea had moved in ,in more ways than one ! She now lives in the back of beyond in Yorkshire with Skye and continues to be thoroughly spoilt. Brea has has only been back in the show ring once since her puppies she has nothing to prove and has made way for very successful puppies and is now a successful grandma . She continues to dazzle, starring alongside Skye (Bridie and Darcy) in the Christmas Cards found on my website. Brea continues to do her own thing in her own way. Her one time favourite hobby was to dig for moles of which she would do for hours eventually flicking out a mole without realising it. She could never figure out how Renn would end up with the moles that she had dug for. Her temperament remains as it was as a tiny puppy, gentle calm vocal slightly”blonde” but very amusing! Hayley Jan 2008 Brea had to be put to sleep on January 19th 2009 due to complications after spaying . She will very much missed by Rona but leaves us with a fantastic legacy .On writing this her Grandaughter Jun Lux Ch & Neth Ch .Brightmoor Irish Mist has just won the Reserve CC at Crufts and her daughter Rainesgift The Dawn of Thyme for Stranfaer has just been scanned in whelp ...exciting times ahead for both bitches .
